Reflections & Notes on Walter Russell’s morning prayer from the Divine Iliad

August marks the one year anniversary of my Sacred Sunday ritual.

At that time, I was called to merge the traditional day of rest with the spiritual practices of energy alchemy* (light & shadow work) and dedicate myself, weekly, to a routine revolving around unconditional love, appreciation and being an instrument of peace.

I knew I wanted to incorporate something more traditional into the ritual for Sundays, that would have that preserved and repetitious ‘prayer’ feeling to it. I wasn’t raised within any religious structures and so part of me has sought to expose myself to atmospheres of that type, to get a sort of insider view from my own perspective.

As synchronicity would have it, just at this time, as channel I really enjoy on YouTube called The Reality Revolution with Brian Scott, put up a morning mediation which included a prayer by Walter Russell. It caught my eye immediately, not just because of the name; (if you’re not familiar with Walter Russell and you’re at all interested in metaphysics you should check him out) but the word prayer was what really rung a bell for me.

I knew Russell to be a spiritual, and even a religious man, so I wasn’t surprised by it but the timing and my seeking were so perfectly answered that I was astounded.

The meditation video Brian Scott created around the prayer works beautifully. His introduction leads you through visualizations and some quick breath work techniques to invigorate the body before reciting the actual words from the prayer.

The way he echoed the words makes it easy to follow along at your own pace without feeling too rushed. I also love the echo effect because it filled me with the image of a church or group gathering where many people were repeating along with me.

From the very first listen I knew this was powerful.

I have now been reciting this morning meditation prayer every Sunday for about a year, and I feel some recognition and gratitude are due on my behalf because I have truly seen such changes and transmutations take place in my life since I started this ritual.

Yes, I do already take time to share weekly insights over on my telegram channel, through pictures, voice notes and videos aligned with lines from this prayer – but for the year marker, I wanted to do something different.

This write up a is a dedication of sorts to both Brian Scott and Walter Russell, in which I’m going to dissect the prayer and give some of my own little underlying meanings to some of the lines and share a few breakthroughs I went through in regards to some of the wisdom within the words.

Each time I listen to this prayer something new sticks out.

I have truly enjoyed coming back to this same 25min video week after week because I hear it in a new way every time. I’ve mentioned this in quite a few Sacred Sunday posts, so if you follow my channel – I apologize as you’ve heard this enough already! – but seriously, depending on what kind of mood I’m in, what my week has been like, what is going on in the world around me and my own inner world especially, there’s a newness to the prayer where some line hits a chord differently within me and gives a whole new sound to it. It’s amazing and has yet to cease to inspire me, even after an entire year.

After the reading below, I’m going to share some of my own personal take away’s from certain sections, discuss a few keywords/phrases that I’ve unlocked, and also explore a few parallel connections I see between other metaphysical, esoteric, religious teachings from separate times/places.

I hope you enjoy reading the powerful words of this prayer and that you unlock those secret messages within it which were hidden just for you.

Walter Russell’s Morning Prayer

Salutations to the day. The dawn telleth the coming of the new day.I turn my eyes to the morning and purge myself in the purity of the dawn. My soul quickeneth with the beauty of the dawn.

Today is and will be. Yesterday was and has been.

My yesterday is what I made it. I see it in memory; perfect or imperfect, my today is what I will to make. I will to make it perfect. I am Man. I have free right to choose. I may do as I will to do.

I have the power to build the day or to rend the day. The day will be of my making – either perfect or imperfect- good or bad – as I choose to live it; in Spirit or in Flesh, on the Mountain Top or Earthbound. The day is of my choosing.

None shall stay my hand in the making of the day.

If I rend the day – I build ten other days, may have 10 X 10 to undo the rending. The Universal One will not allow this day to go unlived; to the glory of Him, whom I am not, to the fulfillment of His command nor to the fulfillment of His purposes.

If I build the day, I will have lived the day to the glory of the One in the fulfillment of that Part of His purpose which is Mine to fulfill.

So that I may meet the day with knowledge to build the day, I will look into my soul while it is yet dawn, before the morning breaketh.

These are the words with which I greet the day.

These are the words of the morning.

This is the spirit of the dawn.

This is the thought with which I meet the day, which descendeth upon me and which cannot be turned away.

Who am I?

I, alone, am not I – Thou – my Father art I.

I am favored of thee, my creator.

I am of the Inner Mind.

I know the ecstasy and exultation of genius.

All power is mine.

I know my omnipotence.

I have all knowledge.

I know my omnitions.

To me, the universe is an open book. I need not learn, I know.

I see the unseen from the mountain top. I hear the music of the spheres.

I know the transcendent joy of creation.

I know my universality.

I am the light of universal thinking. I translate the language of Light into the words of Man, for those who know not their universality.

Immorality is mine. I will earn immortality. I will bestow immorality. Mine is the power to give immortality. I shall not deny that which shall give immortality to those who dwell in darkness and who reach out for the Light. I will reach out my hand into the darkness and lead him that asketh into the Light.

I will keep my body charged with energy for the fulfillment of my purpose, in accord with that which is commanded of me. I have knowledge of my body, through age long memory of the building of my body.

The power of the dynamic universe is behind my thinking.

I have the power of self vitalization and revitalization of my body, to multiply its productivity and fulfillment of that which is command of me.

I have the power to revitalize others whom I have made to believe. To him who believes I will give power to do that which is his to do, for the glory of Man and the glory of the One.

I stand on the electrodes of the universe of energy. Power if mine to give by the wayside. I will not deny to any man who asketh the power which is mine to give. I have no limitations, unlimited power is mine within those who are universal.

I will do today that which of today and pay no heed to the tomorrow, nor waste regrets on that which was yesterday. My day shall be filled to overflowing yet I shall not haste in the day nor shall I waste the day. Those things which I must do, I shall desire to do. A menial task which must be mine – that shall I glorify and make an art of it.

Defeat, I shall not know. It shall not touch me. I will meet it with true thinking. Resisting it will be my strengthening.

But if, per chance, the day shall give to me the bitter cup – shall it sweeten in the drinking. Courtesy will be in my heart to give to all.

My joy will be in serving.

My power will be in thinking true.

My power will be in knowing.

My power is in humility, the taint of arrogance will I not know. That which is I, will I keep within the shadow of the beautiful temple of modesty, but my doings will I send forth into the Light that all may see, therefore my doings must be true.

Force will I meet with gentleness.

Impatience with patience.

Truth will guide my footsteps through torturous paths and lead to me to the glory of the day’s golden evening.

I will see beauty and goodness in all things.

From all that is unlovely, may my vision be immune.

God dwelleth in me. All that God hath to give, He giveth me. He withholdeth nothing.

Blessed be the new day which descendeth upon me. I greet the ‘Oh, Day!’ I cross thy threshold with joy and thanksgiving. My eyes are in the high heavens as I enter your sacred temple.

I will sing the day through with a glad song; that the problems of the day shall be as chaff before the wind and that others may hearken to my song and be quickened.

My countenance shall reflect the Spirit within me, that all may see.

Descend upon me, oh blessed day of opportunity, You shall not find me wanting.

This is the end of the spoken prayer.

Personal Notes

To begin with, I’d like to point out the general overall benefit I’ve noticed since sticking with this ‘Sacred Sunday‘ routine. I think holding myself accountable week after week and dedicating an entire day to my self has given me innumerable new insights and personal understandings. I hope to share a few of those things here.

First off, greeting the day (and Source) with a traditional greeting like in this prayer and making a strong statement of intent aloud has created a more steady directionality of my intelligent energies towards imagining and building my future days with more purposeful connections.

I really love the imagery of purging myself in the purity of the dawn. I think beginning each day with this kind of fresh start and sense of cleanliness is lovely. I feel this is also a great metaphor for starting your day with a literally clean home and a balanced emotional environment, too.

The first section of the prayer addresses the present day and the individual power of choice we each have with the start of every new day.

Learning how to let go of thinking about the past and/or future to focus solely on building my present moment has been a huge lesson with a large learning curve, for me.

Repeating these beginning lines: ‘Today is and will be. Yesterday was and has been.’ and the next bit about seeing yesterday as it was and having the will to create my today regardless of any mistakes I may have made before, has helped me greatly in owning my own sovereignty and holding myself responsible for my actions and time spent.

I really love and appreciate the acceptance of potentials both good and bad in the wording here. The clear representation of duality within myself as well as the world around me has morphed so many times for me over the year and is currently guiding my Energetic Systems Series of videos over on my YouTube channel.

This outright and honest approach of transparency is godly in and of itself, in my opinion of course. What better way to honor your beautiful unique gift of fractal representation here and now than to just be You?

The word will* has evolved for me and become intertwined with intention and thought energy; this melding helps me to remain anchored in my own sense of sovereignty. This firm foundation encourages me to operate with discernment while navigating my path.

The day will be of my making – either perfect or imperfect- good or bad – as I choose to live it; in Spirit or in Flesh, on the Mountain Top or Earthbound. The day is of my choosing. None shall stay my hand in the making of the day.

I love the spiritual/biblical reference here; it has developed in its metaphorical meanings quite a few times and has now settled into a seeking of the path of least resistance while attempting to bridge the 3D, material earthly world and the aetheric, intangible 5D world.

I’m called to also point out the priceless knowledge and information I find while digging around between these two aspects; 3D and 5D. I hope this inspires others to do some comparative work between their own ideas of these two concepts flesh and spirit and see what they uncover. You never cease to be amazed, at least after almost a decade I have yet to be!

If I rend the day – I build ten other days; may have 10 times 10 to undo the rending.

I truly love the parallel to the Ra Contact & the Law of One here. Honestly, I will need to read Russell’s Divine Iliad and find out if these specific words were added by Brian Scott or not – but something tells me, most likely they were, as he is very familiar with the channelings. The reference to the exponential effect of entities calling out, as well as the concept of Ra remaining in our density to assist in clearing distortions around the influences they had on Humanity and Earth in the past, reminds me and deepens my connections to the higher purpose and the journey back to Oneness.

The Universal One will not allow this day to go unlived; to the glory of Him, whom I am not – to the fulfillment of His command nor to the fulfillment of His purposes.

If I build the day, I will have lived the day to the glory of the One, in the fulfillment of that Part of His purpose which is Mine to fulfill.

Admitting and truly knowing you are not of the same level of consciousness as the Infinite Creator and therefore cannot understand the ultimate purpose of the whole builds humility and honesty. These lines above are crucial to finding honest unconditional love for the Self, to truly healing traumas and wounds and to also learning to hence forth live in transparent light and do the inner alchemy to remain as clear, healthy and positively aligned with the service to others polarity. Since I began to take a hold of these sovereign, golden reigns and steer my life with more attention, staying within the creator mindset more often instead of the highly reactive first person view, I’ve come to love my role more deeply and also appreciate other’s unique roles more, too.

The following few lines continue to sum up the will to build the day in the best way possible and to Walter, the best first step is a philosophical one where we ponder our piece of the mosaic within the whole of the stained-glass window.

At first the more old-timey, church-y phrases were slightly difficult for me but after some time they started to grow on me, actually.

I started to like saying Him and His and envisioning the divine masculine energy watching over me, the purest ideal of the greatest Father – it feels comforting and safe – something I’ve previously struggled a lot with.

When I say these words and unite myself with the terms (my father, him, his) I’m not segregating myself to the one perspective of the Christian God (which can be perceived as singular if one chooses), but instead I’m leaving my intentional box open for bigger interpretations and even seeing the Father creator as a partner to the Mother and with that shift of thought alignment I alter my conversation with the universe.

The words we speak matter but what matters even more is the thought energy behind the words chosen; that initial message behind the words which inspires you to seek words to speak – that is the language of the ether, of Source, of the universe itself.

This is the thought with which I meet the day,
which descendeth upon me and which cannot be turned away:
Who am I?
I, alone, am not I – Thou – my Father art I.
I am favored of thee, my creator.

As I already noted above, the language was awkward for me at the start but giving myself a year to relax into the idea has really improved my sense of security and self worth. Another big thing was the unlocking of the phrase I’ve put in bold text – realizing each day is a brand new slate, given directly from God to me, on which I may do as I please. What a miracle, honestly! To feel this and write it without a trace of bitterness in my heart, mind or soul; that has been the product of this prayer’s power in my life over the last year. Now speaking this part, I feel like an active participant in the live action co-creation of my reality which exists in union with all other creations of God.

I really enjoy going through the segment of affirmations that come next. I’ve found of many personal references to each of these that I think I could probably do a podcast on each line all by itself!

Just for quick responses on highlighted items – the bold line speaks so clearly of our intuition and imagination, of the spirit intelligence and the connection to the Akashic or collective consciousness where we can each enter and pull information from. Courageous confidence is the frequency required to gain entry and I think the emotions called forth are perfect for that. The mountain top and music of the spheres references are unique and could catch the attention of many different types of seekers. I know it rung a few bells in my conscious awareness.

This wording rung out so strongly when I first heard it – I thought immediately of all the people out there sharing light language healing, light codes and frequency music.

It also defines perfectly the role of the Light Worker.

Furthermore the metaphysical understandings of Light being the action of Universal Thinking is brilliant and to me, super accurate to what is happening within the ether.

Over this passed year immortality has transformed from a mere concept and word into a undeniable truth and ultimate curiosity for me.

I give a lot of credit to the lines in this prayer which encourage us to look at immortality as obtainable and actually, bestowed upon us already. This great gift of life and aliveness comes with the golden string of death and nothingness – but that does not mean there is no outside purpose, no greater roles or meaning. In fact, having this eternal prize awaiting us should create an air of freedom here in our Earthly lives but instead the dream has been hijacked and twisted to benefit certain controllers only, and that taints the atmosphere with the stench of fear, hate and shame. This is most definitely a conversation for another occasion, but there are some things we mustn’t turn a blind eye to any longer, and calling out Negative Systems for what they are is the first step.

Immorality is mine. I will earn immortality. I will bestow immorality. Mine is the power to give immortality. I shall not deny that which shall give immortality to those who dwell in darkness and who reach out for the Light. I will reach out my hand into the darkness and lead him that asketh into the Light.

I appreciate the imagery and metaphor here and I like to add a layer onto it by assuming the word immortality also implies the knowledge of the concept of immortality. This is a slight alteration, but I think it makes a big difference. It links together Wisdom with Light. We can then reread the above and hear how the metaphor becomes deeper still; showing us that just by enlightening others of the concept of their eternal light and immortal soul we are leading them from the depths of ignorance into the light of conscious knowledge.

To expand on this idea of taking in knowledge, as light, and processing it within the vessel as information or instructions meant to be used by systems within the body – the prayer now mentions the power to maintain and revitalize the health of the body, which we’ve already received the directions for during the initial building of the self. Just by knowing this, and then thinking/intending it – commanding it – we hold the power to heal ourselves, to realign, detox, make new.

This word command has morphed over time for me as well – like an ice sculpture of a domineering, scornful tyrant melting, and revealing the scarecrow figure hidden beneath, with a withered yet still beating heart. There’s bits to love about it, but we’ve layered such ugly clothing on top that it took me quite a while in meditation and contemplation to come around to owning the word comfortably. Now, I speak the word and know it’s true sense comes from a place of unconditional love and expresses the divine will of the Creator to explore itself distinctly. There is sovereign purpose bestowed when infinite intelligence commands an action.

The power of the dynamic universe is behind my thinking.

I have the power of self vitalization and revitalization of my body; to multiply its productivity and fulfillment of that which is commanded of me.

I have the power to revitalize others whom have been made to believeto him who believes will be given power to do that which is his to do – for the glory of Man and the glory of the Infinite One.

The phrase ‘dynamic universe’ is such a wonderful description to me and I’ve really enjoyed expanding my idea of what kind of ‘matter’ or ‘states’ make up the full realm of our universe here. Another important nuance to incorporate into the make up is thought energy. The organic ways of life show us that just knowing/believing in something has a power all of its own; you can feel it. Let’s imagine It exists in a layer of the dynamic universe all its own. When thought pops up – when we recognize our truths, when we vibrate at the same frequency or acknowledge the light node we see as viable – we are transacting an exchange on an energetic level and consenting to an agreed upon certain purpose. We are freely adding our intentional input into that metaphorical thought world but we’re adding a layer as well because actions and speech to confirm this exchange are also taking place in the physical plane. When thought, speech and action align we create a momentum within our power and when that power is in the vicinity of other universal ones, who are ignited and full of potential energy, exponential power becomes available to all within that reality space.

The following section about declaring to do what you must today and releasing things from yesterday or even tomorrow, has really helped solidify my daily mindfulness practice. I really love recommitting myself to making an art of every day tasks.

I really like to switch up the wording here, and add “it shall not touch me, or my family” and also I switch the I will meet it to we will and for a few more sections onward I also use ‘we’. But by the time I get to about here – I switch back to the original wording:

My power is in humility, the taint of arrogance will I not know. That which is I, will I keep within the shadow of the beautiful temple of modesty, but my doings will I send forth into the Light that all may see, therefore my doings must be true.

Force will I meet with gentleness. Impatience with patience.

Truth will guide my footsteps through torturous paths and lead to me to the glory of the day’s golden evening.

Again he compares the opposition & duality of natural being-ness and provokes me to remain honest, grounded and accepting. I feel like these words help me to approach each day with the sovereign strength to face any possibility of failures, mistakes or difficult hurdles in my life because that golden sunset reminds me tomorrow is another chance at it all.

Each time I speak these words, I envision a lovely spring scene like this and so I made this infographic one Sunday.

The last line here – from all that is unlovely, may my vision be immune – reflects back to me a deep connection to my own envisioning or creation of a love/light lattice work bubble surrounding me at all time, filtering through all incoming/outgoing energies ensuring they are cleansed in Source’s love/light and enter/leave in alignment with my highest good.

This section was another hurdle type of wording for me. For so long I had convinced myself that I was indeed a victim. Previously, I had a bad habit of pitying myself and taking the easy way out, weakening my sense of sovereignty and depleting my light/personal power. Now I see each sunrise as a charging phase for my light. I loop in my conscious awareness back to the start of the prayer, by using the same phrase and vision of the new day which descends upon me alone and I choose to greet it consciously as I speak these lines.

This is one of those segments that stuck out right away for me. I absolutely loved the message the wording inspired within me. I have received and I resonate deeply with references around harmony, musical octaves, and mathematical kinds of interpretations, so when I heard this it immediately struck a chord!

My countenance shall reflect the Spirit within me, that all may see.

Descend upon me, oh blessed day of opportunity,

You shall not find me wanting.

I love how the ending seals the entire prayer with a sense of completeness. It allows me to start the day with a full tank or a positive balance. I confirm to myself while saying this, that everything I need is already accounted for, that should nothing come – I am still cared for, still secure and worthy. Embodying this frequency of abundance that is invoked by these words has truly helped me solidify my real foundation and appreciate my given life to its fullest.

This concludes the prayer by Walter Russell

To conclude my own thoughts and experiences here at the end – there have been so many differences and nuances uncovered that I cannot do anything but recommend others to trying it out for themselves!

My life has changed and evolved so much in the last year but I know there were shifts and impacts made available only through what I discovered thanks to this video and prayer. I am so grateful to myself for sticking with this, to both Walter Russel and Brian Scott for creating the content and also for you, my audience, readers and listeners. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you’ll enjoy the meditation if you try it for yourself.
